Robotic Splenectomy by Dr. Iraniha
This is a 22 years old male with history of ITP which was not responsive to conservative medical therapy and required robotic splenectomy surgery. This patient was placed in a right lateral position and 5 trochars were inserted for four robotic arms and one as an assist trochar. The robotic surgery procedure took around one hour and the blood loss was very minimal. He was kept in the hospital overnight for observation and was sent home the next day. His post-operative recovery was unremarkable and his platelet count was normal two weeks after the robotic splenectomy surgery with no medical treatment. He went back to work and exercise two weeks after the robotic surgery procedure.
