What is the adhesion band and how does Dr. Iraniha release the adhesion band?
The adhesion bands is the scar tissue that could develop in the abdominal cavity after any type of inflammatory process including infection, neoplasm or previous intra-abdominal surgical intervention. This scar tissue could wrap around the intestine and create bowel obstruction or blockage of the intestine. They also could potentially create an abnormal operating or defect called internal hernia where a loop of intestine can get stuck in there and create bowel obstruction. This condition is normally associated with severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distention and inability to have bowel activity. Bowel obstruction can be life threatening since the blood circulation of the intestine could compromise rapidly and lead to necrosis of the intestine. Therefore, surgical evaluation and management of this condition at our Orange County Hernia repair center is an emergency. Laparoscopic surgery technique is a minimally invasive procedure to diagnose and surgically manage this issue. At Surgical Oasis Institute an Orange County Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery center Dr. Iraniha has the expertise to perform all complex laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedure to minimize the patients’ postoperative pain and improve their outcome.
